The M80 was closed overnight while emergency services dealt with an ongoing incident on the roadway. Traffic Scotland reported that the closure began at approximately 2:29 a.m. on Tuesday, near junction 7 at Haggs. The southbound carriageway remains shut due to a police incident involving concerns for a person.
For motorists, the congestion is heavy on the M80 southbound from the M9, with delays approaching 48 minutes. Additional delays of up to 90 minutes are being seen on the route toward the M876.
Drivers are urged to steer clear of the area and opt for alternate routes where possible.
Police Scotland issued a statement: “The M80 is closed southbound near Haggs, Falkirk, due to a report of concern for a person. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes.”
